Other Organisations

Whisper UK is a member of the the FSI; this is an organisation that provides training etc for small charities.

In Uganda, Whisper subscribes to the Uganda Networks website for small development organisations. The website although quite good is no longer being updated.

Whisper the Union for Childcare, Outreach and Education is Whisper’s own Uganda-registered NGO.

Kiira Junior Prep International School was a small boarding school in Jinja formerly run by Sarah Louise Matovu. Two Whisper children, Waiswa and Isaac, attended the school; their places were funded by supporters of the school.

Norton Children’s Hospital is a hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, USA where a Ugandan child Gift received heart surgery. Whisper’s Chief Medical Officer Dr Fahad shadowed medical staff there in 2018.

Healing The Children’s Kentucky branch sponsored the shipping of a container of medical supplies from Supplies Overseas a medical surplus charity based in Louisville, Kentucky.

Kyabirwa Surgical Center is a US-funded surgical centre to the north east of Jinja.

TUSC is a small UK-based charity that provides hospital transport for Ugandan children in the Jinja area, using their van Billy Bus.

The Giving Circle is a US-based charity, a bit smaller than Whisper, that has been very active at Kagoma Gate. They built a government-run school, that they claim was the first school in Kagoma Gate((Bertrand, Kelly. Buy-A-Brick for Kagoma Gate KITCHEN. 2015-07-03. URL:http://koikoihouse.blogspot.com/2012/11/buy-brick-for-kagoma-gate-kitchen.html. Accessed: 2015-07-03. (Archived by WebCite® at http://www.webcitation.org/6ZkcTeYzg) )), although it only opened in February 2013, more than a year after Whisper’s school. They also built a birthing centre and they have over 100 sponsored children.

Ekisa Ministries is a US-based charity that runs a home for disabled children in Jinja.

Amani Baby Cottage is a US-based charity that runs a large transitional home near Jinja. Whisper’s first orphan Sowedi lived there for a while.

CEDA is an education-focussed charity registered in England, run by former Whisper volunteers.

Change Tomorrow is an education-focussed charity registered in Scotland, with supporters in the UK and Czech Republic, run by former Whisper volunteers. Their rural school is to the west of Kampala.
